Old sod

Question
There's an ad in our local area advertising a few pallets of old sod (cut 3 weeks ago).  It's St. Augustine grass.  Is there any possibility that with tons of water and great soil that any of this would come back to life?  I was just thinking that if anything, maybe they might serve as "seed" in a sense.  They are really cheap so, just wondering.

Answer
Hey there Laura,

Something like that is kind of "hit or miss." I'd have to personally inspect it before giving it the thumbs up.

In general though, you get what you pay for. Sure, there's a chance it'll work anyway, but I wouldn't advise trying it. There's also the chance that it'll die off, thereby making it necessary for you to spend time and money digging it back out, buying new stuff, and re-doing the project. I think you're better off just getting good stuff to start with.

Good luck!
