What  are the proper times to roll a lawn?

Is it wrong to roll before the last freeze?

Hi Robert.

I don't see any real need to roll an established lawn. You'll just be compacting the soil and inhibiting root growth. It's usually done to firm up the soil after planting seed or to harden a golf green or tennis court before a match. I'm not familiar with the use of a roller on a home lawn though.
