QuestionI have two outdoor dogs (one a very large breed)in a fenced backyard. I live in Northeast Tennessee, where the temps can get in the single digits during the winter (although they are not the norm, they do occur several times per winter, but during the summer it gets very hot, direct sunlight during the afternoon/evening (temps can be up to 100, but more normally high 80s - mid 90s)and is usually quite dry. What type of grass/ grass mix would be best with these wildly varying temperatures to withstand two dogs (I understand there is no "magic bullet"), and how would I care for it? Thanks.
AnswerHi Joy,
You are correct that there's no magic bullet, but Tall Fescue is a pretty impressive option. It does well in a wide range of temperatures, and it's pretty tough stuff. Whether or not it can withstand the dogs is completely up to how much abuse the dogs dole out.
So, in a nutshell, I'm recommending Tall Fescue. Let me know how it works!
