New grass is fallin over

Question
I planted rye grass and waited until it was 3 1/2" to 4" tall to mow it.  It had already started to "fall over" before I mowed it and, afterwards, it is still "laying down".  It looks like a bad haircut.  What is the solution?

Answer
How much did you take off this Rye?  If it was barely a cut, cut again.  Assuming you are in the northern Hemisphere, and it's Winter, you can prepare it for the cold wave by mowing it an inch to 1 1/2 inches in height; this will destroy the Rye plant.  Best regards,
