QuestionHi,
I live in Southwestern Ontario. The weather is beginning to get cold, and winter is just around the corner. I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to help my grass and lawn be healthier next spring since it got horribly neglected this summer, and is still a bit sparse (just bought the house, and the people who lived her previously ignored it). The lawn is in front of the house which faces west and has a large maple tree in it which is mostly bare (and in need of a raking [the lawn, not the tree :P]).

AnswerHi Justin,
Good to hear from a fellow Canuck! I was actually born in Toronto and lived in Windsor for a year may moons ago.
For now, just keep the leaves off and prepare for the spring. Make sure to be ready with some good grass seed and fertilizer as soon as the snow melts so you can get things rolling next year. Now, with the cold weather, you likely won't get any growth or improvement since the grass is beginning to go dormant.
Good luck Justin. Make sure to touch base in the spring if you have any questions.
Good luck!
