QuestionI want to try to control cool season weed with organic methods, but I am having a hard time locating answers. Any suggestions?
AnswerYep. The reason you are having a hard time locating organic methods is because there really aren't any. The concept of organic lawn care is often misunderstood because people are so used to the traditional weed free ideal. Organic approaches challenge us to rethink that and accept plant variety in our lawns in the form of grass and natural weeds.
I've met a thousand people who have valiantly vowed to fight the good fight and rid their lawn of weeds without resorting to chemicals. I've never met one who has succeeded.
SO, the question is, what's more important to you? Weed removal or organic approaches. You'll have to pick one or the other.
That said, IF you want to get rid of the weeds, the chemical amount can be reduced significantly if you plan carefully, measure exactly, and apply correctly. Do a little homework and you can balance your desire to be environmentally sound with limited chemical use while getting rid of weeds.
Good luck!
