QuestionI've had to have a very large Coral Tree removed from my rear yard. I would like to seed this area with Fescue grass seed as a temporary fix until I determine how I want to landscape the area. The area is approxiamtely 18' X 20'. I'm having 50/50 top soil/compost delivered to mix into the heavily clay existing soil. Do I need to cover the grass seed once it is spread? If so, what do I use as a cover? I would like to do this next month (November) just before our rainy season - is this the best time. I've never done anything like this. Are there other things to consider?
AnswerSounds to me like you've already done your homework as most of what you've said makes perfect sense. As for covering the seed, you really just need to till it into the top 1/2 of the soil so it is covered by the soil itself. Then try to water daily, especially when the rains aren't there.
Good luck Sue!
