QuestionI had a core aeration and fall overseeding done by a professional company.
I live in Albany, NY. I'm concerned that they did the aeration and over
seeding on a 90 degree day and it was 90 for a few days that week. It was
right after labor day. I did water it twice a day and we've gotten rain since.
I don't see a lot of new grass. Should I be concerned and ask them to re
seed it? They said it would be done in the fall. I don't think they expected
90 degree weather when they scheduled it.
AnswerHi Dan,
I think you hit the nail on the proverbial head when you said they didn't expect the weather to get so hot. I'm sure they did everything the way they hoped would work best for you, and sometimes that's a roll of the dice.
Give them the benefit of the doubt for now, as I'm sure a lot of that seed will be just fine. Try to water every day we don't get rain, and wait one more week to see what you get. If there's no sign of grass, give them a call & I'm sure they'll make good on it. It just wouldn't be fair to ask them to re-seed when the work they did may be just fine. If it had been 100 degrees for a week, I'd advise you differently. 90 for a few days is usually not fatal.
Good luck Dan. Keep up the watering, and let me know how it all turns out.
