QuestionI am currently trying to grow grass in my back yard. Located in Alabama. I have planted fescue and bermuda. On the areas around where the grass is growing (mainly on the dirt) there is a white powder that forms after a rain. Is this too much fertilizer or what do I need to do?
AnswerIt wouldn't be too much fertilizer. The only thing I can think of is limestone. I've seen this when limestone was applied during seeding. When the rain comes, it breaks down and the result is a white, powdery look.
I don't think you have anything serious to worry about here. It's probably just something in the soil that I doubt will cause any problems.
Let me know if things take a turn for the worse at all.
