brown patch in a lawn

Question
I now realize that during the warm periods in July and early August I over fertilized and New England received a lot of rain.  I now have Brown patch in several large areas of the yard.  I applied Immunoz once to control the spreading.

Questions:  1) Is Immunoz of sufficient stregth the cure the effected areas and stop the spreading? 2) The directions call for a second application in 2 weeks.  At this time of year is that necessary or will the fungus go dormant as the weather gets colder?  3) Can I over seed the effected areas now or wait until spring.  4) In the spring what should I do to prevent reoccurence, I now know to control the watering (irrigation) and fertilize only in early spring, June and then not until late August.

Any comments, suggestions on these issues?

Thanks

Ken

Answer
If applied correctly, the Immunox should take care of the Brown patch, but damaged turf may or may not recover.   You seem to have the right idea as to keeping water and fertilizer moderate from now on.  There's always a balance to walk!  The 2nd application should probably be done just to be on the safe side.  Always follow labeled instructions.  But your question is on solid grounds.  The cold weather will naturally halt the spread.

Definitely aerate and seed NOW.  Don't wait until Spring, or else you'll also encourage strong crabgrass growth.  Not good.

To prevent recurrence, just follow the good water and fertilizer procedures that you know understand.  You can't stop everything 100% of the time, but if you can walk a good balance, problems should remain minimal.

I think that about covers it.  Let me know if I've missed anything.
