QuestionHey CJ, thanks for the time to look at my questions. We are a week away from finishing our pool and are WAY over budget. I need to save some $ and plan to lay my sod myself. Along those line, can you help me out. First off, is it too late to lay Bermuda sod? I live in Athens, Georgia. It continues to be in the low 90's during the day and low 60's at night. As far as the soil goes, they used the red clay from the hole they dug to build the surounding earth deck around the pool. I have pulverized the soil extremely well, it is smooth with little to no clods. I can add whatever you suggest to the soil like top soil, sand, or anything else you suggest. My biggest fear is laying 800-1000 dollars of sod and it dies. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. PLEASE respond to my emai, I am not sure that I can ever find this site again. Thanks, Tim
AnswerHi Tim,
I hope you find this response! You asked me to respond to your email, but you didn't leave it for me. Sorry!
You can lay Bermuda sod year round, but it's best if done before November, so you're good. The best approach though is to make sure the soil is really good first. I'd recommend spending a few bucks to get a soil test with a local extension agent as seen below:

This way, you'll rule out any problems before they make the whole procedure moot.
Good luck!
