i live in Ohio, out in the country.and was wondering what fertilizer you recommend for the spring time?

Organic Matter is good for everything.  Compost, Manure of all shapes and sizes, Humus.  Beyond that, a lot depends on what you're growing.  Soil Amendments can be used to dictate your pH and your products.  What you DON'T want to do is wreck your Soil structure with something that, say, your local Earthworms will be unhappy about.  I can be more specific if you can tell me a little more about what you are growing in the Country -- you lucky duck.
