QuestionIs there a product that can be injected into a stump to help it degrade faster? If there is, what is it? Suzanne
AnswerMs. Harper:
I do remember a chemical which was used for that purpose. It was so many years ago that I can not recall what it was. From dim recall, I believe that it may be potassium nitrate or something like that which was poured into holes bored in the top of the trunk.
Sorry that I can not remember exactly. Otherwiase, the trunk will require approximately three to five years to rot, depending on size and genus.
Have you considered stump grinding? Not a perfect solution, it offers a cosmetic relief.
Best wishes.
