Lawns under eucalyptus tree

Question
I live in So. Calif. To be precise the Santa Clarita Valley.
I planted a brand new sod lawn. I notice all of the grass under the perimiter of the branches of the eucalyptus tree is dying. It gets great water and sunlight. I have heard there is sometbing in the leaves of the tree or droppings that kills lawns? I thought it was at the trunk of the tree but didn't think about the tall branches and under them. Marathon grass is what was put down. I spent ALOT of money and am very disapointed my gardiner/landscaper did not know something could happen to my lawn because of the tree. Right now I have only dirt where once was beautiful grass. Is this true and what can I do about it?   Please help.

Answer
Hi Evelyne
I am really sorry for your lawn and money wasted. First of all you need to know what kind of lawn is that i.e. name of sod. Sometime variety choosen by your landscaper may be wrong or not suitable for saddy area. I will suggest you to reseed your lawn sods with Scott varieties that are suitable foe shaddy area. Just put seed along with starter fertilizers. It will work out.
