doller spot

Question
doller spot can be resistant to many fugicdes can you tell me too

Answer
Dollar Spot and other Warm Season Grass ailments attack your Lawn when you don't fertilize it correctly.  In the case of Dollar Spot, TOO LITTLE Nitrogen is almost always to blame.

Dollar Spot gets really bad when the Grass is desperate for Nitrogen.  Your Soil is not working up to par.  Just by boosting the Nitrogen level -- preferably with something gentle and organic to minimize microbes damage -- you get new growth that puts the lights out of Dollar Spot spores.

But of course some people like to fetch the can of Fungus-killer and spray everything in sight to get rid of it.  There are 2 kinds of Fungus response to Fungicides: Single Gene Mutations and Multi Gene Mutations. The Single Gene Mutations are the ones that almost overnight build up resistance to Fungicides.  This happens more when you use only one Fungicide, and with certain formulas classified as Strobilurins, Phenylamides or Benzimidazoles.  There is actually a Fungicide Resistance Action Council urging manufacturers to halt production of these Fungicides because they support the permanent genetic mutations that protect disease-causing Fungi forever.

Which Fungicides is Dollar Spot is most likely to develop resistance to?

Strobilurins, Phenylamides and Benzimidazoles.

STROBILURINS include Azoxystrobin, Dimoxystrobin, Kresoxim-methyl, Picoxystrobin, Pyraclostrobin and Trifloxystrobin.

PHENYLAMIDES include Phenylacetamide.

BENZIMIDAZOLES include Carbendazim.

The ingredients are easy to find -- just check the label.  Hope this helps.  Thanks for writing.
