QuestionHi there,
I wrote in over a month ago. I am the guy(jersey) who rolled and rolled my lawn, but still had the grass grow in well. Well, I am very happy with were it is now. When it first came up it was a florescent green, then it started getting deep green in different spots. I still have some light spots. Is this normal or could there be a possible problem. Should I apply more winter fertilizer? I put a good amount before I seeded along with some manure/composite mixture(late Oct.)I haven't been doing anything to it in a while but admire it.
Just want to know if I should leave it alone.
Mike
AnswerYour Grass is dormant now, my friend. Let it rest. No fertilizer needed, no water, no mowing (notice how it is not getting taller despite the verdant carpet effect. By the way, that Manure will become available as Nitrogen and Phosphate fertilizer when the weather heats up and raises the metabolism of the Soil microbes. They produce plant Food at the same rate as your Grass needs it, to make a long story short. Admire away.
While we're on the subject, take it easy with the Fertilizer -- the last thing you want to do is to over-Fertilize. That's BURN your Grass and you'll have to start over. Glad you love your new Lawn; sounds like you did an awesome job.
Congratulations on your hard work and keep me posted.
