QuestionHi there
What kind of impact on weeds in turf can have by using sodium carbonate and S. bicarbonate?
AnswerAman:
Sodium bicarbonate should cause a neutralizing action in the soil. I would be cautious of the quantity because it will be adding salts, which are not good unless the cation exchange capacity is high, i.e. has a lot of mature organic matter and is healthy.
I can not answer as to how this material will act on weeds. I have no direct experience with it. If neutralizing the soil will impact growth habits of certain weeds, then it could help. Agricultural lime will do the same without salt build up.
Best wishes.
