QuestionIs there any grasses you can plant in northeast Ohio, that repel mosquitoes? Is there such a grass as lemon grass? Is it safe for pastures too? We have a 90 acre farm that has horrible mosquitoes when water is backed up by a nearby Dam. I would appreciate any information that anyone can give me. We love the out doors, and do many activities outside, but the mosquitoes are ruining any time spent outdoors, much of the DAY, and are making life miserable for our horses and dogs also. Thank you Sharon
AnswerAmerican Biophysics Corp. invented the answer to your Mosquito Prayers a few years ago. I plan each year to buy one of these, then suddenly it's Memorial Day, and next thing I know it's Labor Day and Summer's over. These are pricey, but they are so effective, and so effortless, I think they should be part of every standard patio furniture suite.

Yes, there are plants that act as a MILD repellent against Mosquitoes. But there's just so much you can do to cover the signals a Mosquito has evolved over millions of years to find red blooded mammals to bite. This contraption ATTRACTS them with those same signals. Then it makes them disappear. Why didn't someone come up with one of these sooner? Well, I guess they just did not know that much about Mosquitoes.
This is very different from those caged lights that electrocute night flying insects. From what I understand, most of those insects weren't Mosquitoes, and most Mosquitoes are not that dumb.
I recommend you get one model of the biggest size you can afford. If you can't do that, sell one acre of your farm, and use the proceeds to buy as many as you can.
No, I'm not kidding. This is a terrific product. And I do not own the company.
If you have any questions, ask away. I'd go on about all the other choices -- Purple Martins, Bats and other Mosquito eaters -- but this works like nobody's business.
Good luck. Have a wonderful Autumn. I'll have to drop in to check things over sometime.
