Question
I just bought a house in Houston Texas a humid city.. I want to plant some small plants around a pecan tree and around some pine trees but don't know what kind of plants to plant or were to start at... its my first time gardening can you suggest me what to plant I don't know much about caring for plant so I would like some thing low maintenance.

This is a large topic.  I would recommend contacting the Texas Cooperative Extension office in Houston for publications and classes in horticulture.  The website is:

Connected with a fine ag and horticulture departments at Texas A&M, it has fine resources.  They can provide extended support for your projects also.  There is a Master Gardener program and publications on Xeriscape and flowers that do well in your area, including a butterfly garden.
