QuestionI live in Suwanee, GA. I am having an issue with my Bermuda grass dying around where the condensation drainage spills into my lawn. The grass is only dying in this spot but seems to be spreading outward. We are in a drought in GA and have watering restrictions so I don't water my grass very often. This section of grass overwhelmingly gets the most water because of the drainage.
What can the problem be? I have photos of the lawn damage if interested.
Thank you.
AnswerDear Mr. Parker:
My first impression is that fungus is attacking the plants in the wet soil. Most are treatable with a fungicide. Some are not.
Most fungus will grow when moisture, feedstock and high temperatures are present.
Though I have not seen heavy metal damage from AC drainage, this may be the case if fungus is not the active agent. This can be verified or denied with a soil test requesting metal analysis, or a plant tissue analysis. Use this as a last resort. Fungus is my guess.
Best wishes.
