QuestionQUESTION: Hi,
I read the question/answer about brown "spots" on bermuda lawns. What we have is not round, brown spots but it's more like the grass is just dying. We are from San Antonio where almost everyone has St. Augustine lawns so we know nothing about caring for a Bermuda lawn which is so popular here in the Dallas area. I know our problem is not lack of water, we're STIL having record amounts of rain! Do you think it is a fungus? Is ther any way to check? Thank you, Alberta
ANSWER: Hi Albert;
St. augustine grows very well here in the Dallas area too.
I have St. Augustine.
If you want to go to St. augustine, put in plugs, and in time it will crowd out the Bermuda.
Fungus spots are no always round, as a matter of fact, they are seldon really round, more iregular, except in the case of fairy rings.
Brown sopy fungus is the most common one here, and this year, with all the rain and no sunshine makes ideal conditions for fungus.
Apply 10 pounds horticultural corn meal per 1000 sq.ft.
You won't have to water it in, just wait until later that day or that night, and the rain will do it.LOL
After a few years of an organic program, your lawn will be so well balanced, that fungus will be a thing of the past.
I live in Irving, and since I have been on the organic program I use, I have the lawn I always wanted and couldn't have with chemicals.
I have no weeds, and until this onslaught of webworms a couple of weeks ago, had no harmful insects.
There were just too many of them for my lizards to eat them all, so they defoliated my fruitless mulberry trees and my pear tree.
If you would like a copy of the program I follow, just write me.
My husband and I put 2 to 4 hours per week, combined into working on the lawn, where I used to do 10 to 2o hours per week myself. We spend per year, about what we used to spend per month in the growing season.

QUESTION: Opps - meant to ask you where the best place is to buy organic products? We live in north Carrollton.
AnswerPlaces that carry organic products in the Dallas area.
I get different results every time I put organic lawn care in the super search.LOL
Here are some I got this time.
I could only get professional lawn care companies when I put Carrollton in, so I put Dallas.
Then I put in Lewisville.
