QuestionIs Asian Jasmine safe if my dog were to develop a taste for it - I have to pull out all my Azalea bushes & Juniper (ground covering) and was going to replace the Juniper with Asian Jasmine- my 65-pound boxer has pancreatitis, and he does eat the azaleas and Juniper. The vet thinks that may be the problem - not sure.
Also, do you know how to keep armadillos out of our yard - is there anything safe (for the Boxer) that we can put down that would repel them?
AnswerHi Melissa;
Asian Jasmine is not on the poisonous or non-poisonous list, so I would assume they are safe.
have had some i my yard for about 30 years, and lots of animals have been on it. I don't know is any of them ate it, but there was never one harmed.
Juniper isn't on the lists either, but Azaleas are.
Armadillos:
Well, I couldn't find anything specific, but ceyenne pepper down the holes is effective for chasing away moles, voles and other burrowing animals.
I think armadillos would fall into the same group.
Sprinkled around the perimeter of your attic, it will keep rats, squirrels and other furry critters out.
It irritates their noses.
Sprinkle some down the holes, far enough down your dog won't sniff it up.
He will only do it once, because it has the same effedt on then it would have on you if you sniffed some up in your nose.
Garlic is also recommended.
Those chili pepper seeds you sprinkle on p[izza would work too.
Anything hot like that should do it.
