QuestionHi Charlotte,
I am seeding parts of my lawn any good tips? I don't know if you have heard of an infomertial called "patch perfect"( I am in Canada, don't know if it runs in the states). It is a grass seed that is supposed to grow anywear with no water or sunlight or dirt. Sounds to good to be true. The infomertial had me sold. Ever heard of it? and if so is it any good? Thank you for your time
AnswerHy Ryan;
I have heard of it, but haven't seen any infomercials.
I gt three or four email ads on it every day, and have for a couple of weeks now.
If it sounds too good to be true, 9 out of 10 times, it is.
What I read about that grass sounds like a bunch of pie-in-the-sky sles pitch.
No sun? No water?
Only variety of grass I know of that will grow like that is Astro Turf.
Well, there are several little moss plants that require little water, and will take either full sun to full shade.
I don't seed grass.
The last time I tried was over 35 years ago.
The ^%#^(& birds ate most of it.
St. Auigustine does very well here, and I like it best anyway, so I just laid sod.
If your growing season is short enough that you may have trouble getting a seeded lawn well established before it goes dormant for the winter, I would use sod.
I would sod in pieces of sod about 4"squares, and fill in between with good soil, water it well, and let it spread.
