rottilled dead spot in our back yard, about 3 to 4" down threw seed down placed peat moss on top grew fine for about 2 months. Now getting patchy brown areas where grass looks flat to the ground. However we bought the house last year pervious home owner did have 2 dog's. please any help would be greatly appreciated

It sounds like you have brown patch fungus.
Grab a handful of the grass and tug on it. If it is brown patch, it should come up very easily,have little if any roots, and possibly have a slimy feel.
If the soil has too much clay, then the problem could be that the grass grew fine until the roots got as far as the clay will let them grow, and they can do nothing but die.
If it is brown patch, apply 10 pounds Horticultural Corn Meal per 1000 sq.ft. and water it in.
