Dollarweed in garden beds...

Question
I read your response about dollarweed in your lawn...to use sugar, but I don't have a problem with dollarweed in my lawn.  I have one section in one of my beds that the dollarweed is just taking over!  I don't know what to do, I have sat & pulled them all out trying to get the roots, but that's impossible!  I've tried spraying them with the commercial stuff for lawns but that didn't work!  It seems that for everything I try the come back & worse than before!  Help!!!  Would the sugar thing work in a bed with Alamanda's, Hibiscus & ornamental grasses?  Or should I do something else?

Answer
Hi Jakie;
The sugar and other organics work EVERYWHERE.
They don't harm any plants, or animals or people.
QWhen you sprayed the dollar weed with commercial chemicals, you killed out the micro-organisms in your flower beds.
Those micro-organisms are what enriches the soil, and the ricch soil is what does away with the weeds.
Any time you use any commercial chemicals at all, you cancel out the organics, because they kil ALL the beneficial micro-organisms, and they also kill the beneficial lawn critters and insects.
If you can put something on your grass, veggetables etc, then it certainly isn't going to hurt flowers.
The whole purpose of the organic program is to build a healthy enviornment for the beneficial things God designed to beneficit the soil, to live in, and thrive.
When you kill out the beneficial insects and animals, you give the weeds and harmful insects a clean path to eat and destroy everything you are trying to grow.
