QuestionI live in Atlanta, GA and have Bermuda Grass, I have 3 spots where the grass has burned to nothing but dirt. Can I repair this? Will I need to Re-Sod these areas? Any suggestions you can provide that will assist with eliminating these eyesores will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
AnswerHi Wyl;
This can be from a number of things from fertilizer burn to brown patch fungus.
First you need to determine what the problem was that caused this, then correct that, and you have it made.
Brown patch fungus is just that, a fungus that turns the grass brorn. The best organic fungicide treatment for a large area, is Horticultural Corm Meal. Apply 10 pounds per 1000 sq.ft. amd water it in.
or spraying shrubs, roses etc for fungus, I use 4 teaspoons baking soda per gallon of water. Treating larger areas, it is easier to apply the hort. corn meal.
If you have had grass growing there in the past, and have not fertilized recently, and applied it too heavily in that area, then brown patch is the most likely culprit.
Treat the whole yard, as this fungus will just apread to the rest of the lawn.
If it is fertilizer burn, flushing with a lot of watering is the only way I know to wash it out of the soil.
The only other possiblity I can think of is too much shade on that area for grass to grow.
