QuestionWhat is the recommended fertilize for centipede grass?
AnswerCentipede doesn't get any special fertilizer until Summer and Fall. A half pound of Nitrogen -- N -- per 1000 sq ft goes down in June. The North Carolina Turfgrass Research Center recommends fertilizer high in Potassium around the middle of June -- specifically, something like 5-5-15 or 8-8-24. In Autumn, switch to a Potassium Fertilizer, a pound of Potassium -- K -- per 1000 sq ft. This goes down 4 to 6 weeks before the first expected frost.
You'll get a lot of great information on Centipede Grass from the North Carolina Turfgrass Research Center:
http://www.turffiles.ncsu.edu/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=2&SysID=ERLOP...
They'll give you timely tips for each month of the season to help you grow the prettiest Centipede in town. To wit:
'Mow grass to 1 inch. Do not let grass get taller than 1?inches. NEVER burn off centipedegrass to remove excessive debris.'
Just ignore their recommendations on pesticides and herbicides. You don't need those. No one does.
Otherwise, everything else is good with your Centipede?
