QuestionIn preparing for a beautiful lawn, I fertilized my Bermuda lawn with Scott's Weed & Feed in the hopes to kill the current weeds and prevent future weeds from growing. After applying the Weed & Feed, my grass is dry and brown; however, under the dry brown grass appear to be a few green blades.........did I mention few? Can you tell me have I lost my lawn or will it come back? While my lawn is struggling, I thought about spreading Bermuda Seeds; however, I didn't want to complicate matters. Once again, is my existing lawn gone and/or should I spread Bermuda Seeds? My geographic area is Alabama. Please advise.
AnswerAmanda, I need a little help here to answer you correctly.
Scotts is selling its 'Weed n Feed' product line with different names on the bags now. The formula changes -- many communities outlaw its use, Scotts changes the formula to keep it legal -- but the only thing now that comes close to your description is 'Scotts Lawn Pro Super Bonus Weed And Feed'.
Which worries me. I want to confirm you are using that. Because if this is what you sprinkled around, you should know that the Atrazine based formula is NOT -- I repeat, NOT -- for useo n Bermudagrass.
Now, why they would not make that clearer is anybody's guess. They don't want to discourage you from using it, I suppose. If it kills your grass, by the way, they will refund your money. If this is what you used.
And if you did use it, dead Bermudagrass is the LEAST of your problems.
Have you seen the Extoxnet website listing on Atrozine? Click on http://extoxnet.orst.edu/pips/atrazine.htm and read all about it: "Products containing atrazine must the Signal Word CAUTION." And Amanda, that's NOT because of what it will do to your Bermudagrass.
Amanda, I don't know why you would want to use this stuff anyway. This stuff is awful!
IF you used it.
If not, let me know. We'll need the correct name of the product.
If you did, let me know. Your grass is history and you need to start over. A new Bermuda lawn awaits you. RSVP
