i live in Atlanta and will be planting Bermuda grass seeds this month and would like to know if i need to cover the seeds with wheat straw.

Wheat straw is a FANTASTIC mulch for lawn seeding.  It protects your soil and conserves moisture.

Be prepared however for some potential complications.  Nothing big.  Just don't be surprised if you see some odd looking sprouts growing in the Bermudagrass.

If you don't mind waiting a year, the wheat will just be mowed with the Bermuda and will enhance your soil when it dies.

This is a great time of year to sow your lawn.  Remember to mow faithfully and fertilize -- no weed killers needed -- and you will naturally eliminate 90 percent of your weeds at the end of 3 years.  Plus your grass will be greener.  Especially with that nutrient-rich Wheatgrass in the soil decomposing.
