Question
I live in a neighbor hood that has many big Oak trees. I have several on around my house. A neighbor had one blown over last summer and it was hollow. Is there a way to tell if any of mine might be hollow? Could I actually drill a small long hole in a tree to tell? Would this harm it?

Hi Dave;
Was the tree that blew over, green and leafing?
I have not heard of a hollow one, that was not dead, being hollow inside.
If it was by all appearances a healthy tree, write me some more information.
I am searching some other sources for an answer for you.
