i LIVE IN SW FLORIDA AND MY BAHIA LAWN IS HORRIBLE. DOLLAR WEED EVERYWHERE A MIX OF SEVERAL GRASSES GROWING ..ANY WAY IM DONE W/ IT. i HAD A FRIEND ROUNDUP HIS ENTIRE YARD , WAITED 4 DAYS AND LAID ST. AUGUSTINE RIGHT ON TOP. IT LOOKS GREAT BUT EVERTHING I'VE READ SAYS NOT TO DO THIS. THIS SOD IS GOING TO BE A 3000 DOLLAR INVESTMENT AND I WANT IT TO LOOK GOOD WILL THIS WORK??

Many months later, my friend, I am seeing your desperate question in our General Lawn Questions Pool -- and I apologize for not seeing it sooner, because I would have loved to take this walk with you and helped you with your lawn.

So now I'm writing to see what steps you took, and how you are doing with your grass there in sunny, beautiful Southwest Florida.  While I freeze up here on Long Island and wait for spring.

You were correct about the RoundUp.  It is very bad. Your friend will probably have some nice looking short term results.  But it's a pact with the devil.  And a $3K investment on sod is nothing to sniff at, buddy.  So I appreciate your concern about wanting to do this right.
