QuestionIs there something I can do to get rid of this grass without damaging my lawn? I live in Lady Lake Forida at the Villages. Is there any product on the market that can be used? Thank you
AnswerHi Thomas;
I know of nothing you can use to kill Burmuda that won't kill the St, Augustine too.
I just don't use chemicals anymore. For the last 8 or 9 years, I have been on an organic program, and since then I have no weeds, harmful insects or all the problems I battled over 40 years before I smartened up.
However, 42 years ago, when we bought this house it had Burmuda in the lawn. I live in North Texas, and our climate here is not too unlike your's except I think you get more rain than we do.
I plugged in St.Augustine, and in three or four years it crowded out the burmuda.
Burmuda will live on less water than St. augustine wants,so if you water more, and concentrate of growing the St. Augustine, it shopuld crowd out the burmuda.
If you would like more information on organics, write me. I am very happy to share what I have learned.
I have a gorgeous lawn that is weed free, harmful insect free and I spend less than 1/10th the money or time I used to spend to have a mediocre lawn.
