QuestionYou recommended to spray sugar in the yard. Will the sugar brings lots of ants in your yard? or any other worms or insects?
AnswerI am afraid I am not a sugar-pusher, Lena. The only sugar I recommend is in the form of Molasses, Corn Syrup or Brown Sugar to fortify Compost Tea.
It is my understanding that according to one theory, sugar is a quick, efficient way to feed Microbes in the soil.
But it is also my understanding that Microbes do not live on sugar alone. In fact, what they need is a big dose of Nitrogen, in a form they can use. The Nitrogen cycle is at the root of everything wonderful.
And yes, I do believe ants would love them.
But simply spraying with sugar to cure this, that and the other thing, well, I believe Compost Tea would work and plain sugar would not work at all.
Compost Tea - now, there's a magic formula for God's green earth. Compost Tea is teeming with microorganisms that fight Fungus and feed earthworms, among other wonderful things. We're past the time of year to apply Compost Tea, at least across the country in Zone 7 and north. But come spring, it will be time to start cooking.
But my lawn and garden are Sugar-free.
