QuestionI am in PA zone 6. I had an addition put on and the contractor brought in some topsoil and put down grass seed. I don't know the type. Everywhere his topsoil was put, I now have serious Foxtail.
Is there a way to get rid of the foxtail grass?
Thank you
AnswerFoxtail is a common annual grass which will die with first frost. Just try to rip up as many as you can now. Next spring prior to april 15th, apply a fertilizer w/crabgrass preventer (such as Scott's Turfbuilder with halts) to prevent (grass and) weed seeds from sprouting. It will not hurt existing grass, but it will prevent new grass from sprouting for a few months. This will prevent re-infestation.
