QuestionGrass killer was sprayed on part of my lawn mistakenly instead of weed killer. We immediately put the lawn sprinkler on it for the remainder of the day. However, it is browning real quick. Any suggestions?
AnswerHi Brad;
that is BAD!!!
I am afraid the only hope is flooding so that as much as possible is washed through the soil and deep enough the roots will not be affected.
I would flood it for a couple more days.
You need to wash it down past about 8 inches deep.
that may save some of it, and what is aaved may spread to cover where it was damaged, but it is a crap shoot to see if it can be saved.
If not, you will just have to get it out of the soil, and then resod or plant again.
That is the beauty of organics, that won't happen.
I use sugar on my lawn and garden.
Dry molasses was what was recommended, but that was not available here back then, so i used sugar. It worked so well, I have just stayed with that.
Fertilizers and weed killers kill the beneficial microbes that work round the clock, enriching to soil.
with rich soil, your grass and plants will grow beautifully, and weeds will nopt thrive in your soil.
Weeds like poor soil.
Fertilizers don't enrich the soil. they feed the vegetation growing there, including the weeds. Then they wear out, and you have tp reapply.
Dry molasses, or sugar, is food for the microbes, and they make your soil richer and richer. they work round the clock, the year round, so you need never spend money for fertilizers and weedkillers anymore.
An organic enviornment is healthy for beneficial insects and nematodes that feed on harmful microscopis ones, and lizards, toads and grass snakes, feed on the grubs, slugs, army worms, ants, and all the other pesky insects that invade your lawn and garden.
My little lizards keep ALL the aphids off my roses. I will not allow anyone to herm them with chemicals.
Mt toads, love slugs, and that makes them best friends of mine, even though I would die on the spot of one of them touched me.
I don't even want to SEE one of my grass snakes, but they are safe in my yard, because they eat bugs I don't want.
We exist very well together.
I use herbs I grow to keep the inside of my house bugfree.
If I had known about organics 50 years ago, I might still have a back and knees that work.
If I can help you with more organic information, just write me.
I will be happy to pass along what I have learned, and am learning still.
