Question
i just read an answer that you gave to someone about putting sugar in your lawn. i cant believe it! sugar? thats too simple,too crazy! im going to try it! my question is, what does this do for the ant population? or bees? we have a big problem with ants taking seeds, and i cant help but think they will love me forever if i put sugar in my yard.perhaps you have an organic solution for the ants also? i cant wait to see the looks on my neighbors faces when they see me putting sugar in my yard! i think im going to have my camera ready

Oh Honey, I have an organic solution for EVERYTHING. LOL
The sugar nourishes beneficial microbes that work round the clock, enriching your soil.
Weeds love poor soil, and will not thrive in rich soil, so you don;t need fertilizers, which KILL those beneficial microbes and some of the beneficial insects that feed on harmful insects.
when you get your soil nice and rich, you wil not need weed killers, or insecticides, because you will have made rich soil, and as soon as weeds do come up, they die out. If they come up at all, the will not get big enough to see. This takes a coup[le of years, but the ones you have now will start to die out in a couple of mowings, and each year, fewer will come up, and will start to disappear in a couple of mowings, and you will have made a healthy enviornment for the lizards, toads and grass snakes that will eat all the harmful insects the beneficial insects don't feed on.
Ants are tasty tidbits to those criters.
Toads love slugs.
My lizards, I see them running along the fence, and in my rose bushes and trees, and I haven't seen any aphid damage since they came to work for me, and they work CHEAP ! LOl
I have started checking out some of the other organic things you can use, like lava sand, and alfalfa meal.
I understand corn gluten will kill fungus.
So far, I have just used baking soda, and that has worked better than any of the chemical fungicides I ever used.
I use herbs to keep my house insect free.
My cockroaches are all living outside in the soil, aerating and eating harmful insects, where they belong. I NEVER see one in the house.
Write me anytime. I LOVE to share what I have learned about non-chemical ways to accomplish  what I used to spend a fortune on sprays etc to TRY and get rid of them.
My Asthma is 90% better since I got rid of the chemicals too.
