QuestionIm sure the best way to treat brown spots from dogs peeing in the lawn are to prevent it in the first place. But when it does happen what is the best way to treat the spots? I can't even dilute with water immediatly because I only figure out that the dog went on the lawn when the spots start to show up.
AnswerChris, I agree, we dog lovers are between a rock and a hard place when it comes to our lawns and our beloved canine buddies. Only a Cat Person would suggest that we dump our dogs to protect our grass.
There's just no magic wand here that will do what we want it to do. Believe me, we are looking. We are waiting. Some of us are even praying!
Unfortunately, this is not a living room carpet we are talking about. It's a living plant, and being living, once it gets a fatal dose of urine or anything else, it's history.
Growing a less susceptible cultivar will at least minimize the damage. But you know that.
I really expect that 10 years from now we will be looking at a solution to this problem. Americans love their Dogs. And we love our Lawns. Scientists are working very hard to figure out an answer. I wish I could get it for you now. But not even AllExperts are able to do the impossible.
Get your dog(s) to "go" in the same place - if at all possible. That way at least you will not have those brown spots EVERYWHERE you look.
I'll let you know if I think of something better. Let's talk again around 2016.
