QuestionHi, We are currently having a very dry and hot time in Arkansas. My friend said that you should keep the grass cut because the roots would have less stress, then if it had to support the longer/taller grass. I think it would be better not to cut it so that it picks up the night time dew and also shads the roots. What are your thoughts on this matter? Thanks Mike
AnswerHi Mike;
Thanks for a good laugh, I needed that. LOL
I vote for shading the soil and roots.
Roots don't hold up the grass blades. LOl
The same is true for winter.
When you mow for the last time, let the grass grow to about 5 inches, before it goes dormant, if you have very cold winters. That helps insulate the roots from the cold.
Your friend reminds me of my roomate in the hospital when I had my first child.
She told me she had heard of a new surgical proceedure, where, when a woman has a Cesarian birth, instead of putting in stitches that will heal over, they put in a zipper.
Then if she ever had another cesarian section or any abdominal surgery, they can just unzip her.LOL
