QuestionGOOD MORNING:
In your letter to Art it was mentioned that you used sugar and baking soda- BUT no formulas. How much,when, how often etc.
I have been fighting brown patches for the past two summers.
Thank you,
AL
AnswerHi Albert;
I use 1/4th cup baking soda to 1 gallon of water in my garden sprayer, and soak the area well.
I broadcast sugar by hand each spring and fall, although you can do it anytime.
If you wanted to start now, go ahead a put it down, and water it in well. Then apply again in the fall.
You can't put too much sugar, because too much of it will only waste sugar, not burn your grass, like fertilizers will.
Another good fungus treatment if corn gluten or agricultural corn meal.
I don't know how much of those to use. I have just been reading about them in Howard Garrett's book.
He knows more about organics than anybody.
If you decide to go with the gluten or cornmeal, let me know and I will find out the amounts to use, for you.
