asian jasmine cuttings

Question
Will asian jasmine root out in water? My husband and I are going to be planting a hill with asian jasmine and took some cuttings from my sister's bed.  We are hoping they will root and then we can plant them.

Answer
Hi Jonita;
I am not sure if it wil root in water or not.
I have it in my front bed, where there is a lot of shade.
It grows in the shade, but when it gets far enough to get more sun, it really takes off.
i love it.
When I want to transplant some, I just loosen up the soil where I want it to go, then make a trench a few inches deep, go and pull up some of the Jasmine. Take hold of the end of a vine, and pull up. It will come right up, out of the soil, e=with all those little roots attached.
I lay it down in the trench, cover it well with soil, but leave most of the leaves sticking out to get some air and sun, water it well, and keep it fairly moist there until I see new growth.
Each of those little sets of roots will take hold, and start a new plant.
I have never tried to root it in water, but I don't see why it wouldn't.
If you put the cuttings in a little bit of soil when you took them, and if there were roots attached to them, then putting them in a container with soil, and put them where they get plenty of sun, and keep them watered, they should grow.
then you could just transplant in a few weeks, from the pots.
