Plant ID

Question
Hi,

A very hearty plant appeared one day, next to the gate of my backyard fence. It's dark green, about 18 inches high, and quite attractive. It has put out small, black, round berrylike fruit, that occur near the junctions of branches and main srem.

If I break a fruit by squeezing with my fingers, I find under the black skin, a clear gelitenous, watery material surrounding a small hard white kernal.

I live in Washington State. I hope that doesn't complicate finding an answer. I have digital pictures, but I don't know how to attach them to this email.

Answer
Hello Dave from Washington State - if you send me your email as a "private question", I will reply and you can email your photograph to me.  I'll see if I can figure it out.  But I have to remind you, I am on the East Coast -- Long Island, NY, the Long Island Gardener.  I'd be happy to try.
