bentgrass or blugrass

Question
what is the difference between bentrass and blugrass? i have been thinking about how nice it would look to have a putting green at the front lawn instead of regular grass like everybody else. whats your adivce.

Answer
Bentgrass is usually used on golf courses -- home or club.  It is often considered high maintenance because of the work and expense that greenspeople go to for the perfectly smooth sweept of grass you need to putt.

Researchers have developed lower maintenance strains now and they are saving money and time.

Visually, bentrass almost looks like a green rug.  Think of the 19th hole at the golf course and how different it looks when you get up close and personal.  Almost like felt.

Bluegrass - Kentucky Bluegrass, of which there are scores of strains - is the most popular grass used on Northeast Lawns.  It takes a little more care but some people feel it is worth it.

Both are equally troublesome and trouble-free.

I refer you to Seedland.com (www.seedland.com) for a full supermarket-sized selection of grasses.  I love them both.  In fact, I grow them both.

Keep in mind you need a special lawnmower to cut bentgrass.  Let me know when you're ready to buy and I'll guide you on the purchase.  Thanks for writing.
