Questionhello
what are some of your plants in your organic garden. i'm not a gardner but trying.
AnswerHi Lee Ann;
You can grow anything organically that you can with chemicals, only better and easier.
I have grass, of course.
I have roses, crepe myrtles, ferns, lilies, dusty miller, irises,rose of sharon trees, magnolias,azaleas,other perinial and annual flowere, several varieties of ferns.
Herbs: lavender, rosemary, thyme, sweet basil, oregano, chives, marjoram,
Garden vegetables: Squash, tomatoes, salad veggies, green beans. That is all I planted this year.
Fruit trees: fig, peach, apricot, aprium, crabapple, grape vines.
that is most of what I have, that I can think of off hand.
I use the herbs for cooking, insect repellant and aroma therapy.
Rosemary keeps out roaches and other insects, lavender repels houseflies, and other insects.
Basil is supposed to repel fleas, but i justt learned that. I use a lot of it in cooking, so that may be helping, because even though I have 4 dogs, we don't tollerate fleas. I scatter cedar bark mulch all over opur yard to repel fleas, ticks, and termites.
Oh, i also have mosuito plants in comtainers in the back your and near the front entrance. It is a variety of geranium, and it DOES repel mosquitoes.
I don't have fleas, ticks, roaches, spiders, earwigs or silverfish in the house. I used to. Out area is good for them to thrive, so most people have a problem with them.
You WANT roaches outside in the soil, where they would rather be if we would stop killing off their insect food, and threatening them with chemicals, so they have to come in our houses to get food and safety.
Hope that helps you.
