Dear Graham, would you have any suggestions on how to remove 12ft high privot hedge roots?  Ive sawed them off one foot above ground level. Could I [1]cut below ground level,then backfill. [2]wrap cable underneath and around and pull out using a ratchet devise. [3]connect chain to car towbar,would this work?. any advise would be appreceated.   Thanks Brian Curtis

well, it depends

the neat way to do it is to dig it as far down as possible

but if you don't mind the mess, rip it out with a car
but the root will rip out of the sorrounding ground
