Redapple iceplant weeds

Question
Recently you advised someone on their redapple iceplant weeds.  You told them that there is no homeowner herbicide that selectively kills weeds in iceplant.  Please look into the product called "KILLER" that Armstrong Garden Center carries.  I bought some recently and it kills grasses and broadleaf weeds in all types of iceplant.  The concept that it works on is the changing of habitat.  What it simulates is a coastal environment, where iceplant seems to thrive and many other plants do not.  Just thought I'd let you know.  I am searching around the internet tonight looking for a website where I can purchase it in bulk instead of buying it for $12.99 a gallon at Armstrong's.  The mixture is one part product and one part water.  One gallon only covers 1000 square feet.  Pretty expensive if you need to reapply.  Another downfall is that you must apply when the soil is dry and not water for up to 4 days.  Not a good product for the summer eh?  Iceplant is drought resistent, but for 4 days in the middle of August might be rough on it.  If you can find this product online I would appreciate it if you could send me a url.  Thanks, Jeff

Answer
The product you are referring to is not a selective herbicide but a non-selective herbicide, e.g. it kills grass and broadleaf weeds (incl iceplant). This is different than a selective herbicide, which is intended to kill broadleaf weeds but not the grass.

Instead of the mentioned product, you can also use Round-Up or any other product based on glysophate. This product came off trade mark (Ortho) a few years ago and you should be able to find good deals on this.
