When is the best time to prune a new (2 yrs old) live oak tree and what can I seal the areas I pruned with?

Some say seal them, some say not to.
I don't put a sealer on a cut on a tree, unless it is a really big limb that is cup off, like 10 or 12 inches in diameter. My husband doesn't even put sealer or tree wound paint on those, and he is the one who has done all the cutting in the last 15 years, except for last year. I hired a crew to cut on cottonwood down and drastically prune another one, and they didn't put anything on the cut areas, and the trees they trimmed are just fine.
I prune when I think it needs pruning, and neighbors are always telling me by pruning at the wrong time of year, I am going to kill my tree, but I haven't killed one yet.LOl
When those guys pruned my trees and cut the one down last year, they did it in mid summer.
So, you asked the wrong person that.
What I tell you might cause you to kill a tree.LOl
