AnswerYour best choice for lightly shaded lawns are a mixture which is based on fine fescues (creeping red fescue, hard fescue or chewing fescues). Do not confuse this with the tall fescues.
The fine fescues have moderately good shade tolorance and is sometimes found mixed with kentucky bluegrass. Make sure atleast 75% is fine fescues.
If your lawn has less than 4-6 hours direct sun per day then consider removing tree limbs etc to allow more light, or consider other plantings than grass.
