lawn weed n feed

Question
I accidently used 32oz of weed n feed on my 4400 sq ft lawn when I should have used only about 10 oz.  Also I had my dial n spray set on 4oz instead of 4tsp.  Now, my lawn has areas of patchy dead grass in certain areas.  I was wondering what I can do to revitalize it?

Answer
Good morning Rhett:

I wish that I could give you some encouragement about your lawn problem.
Without knowing what type of grass you have it is very difficult to give you an evaluation.
The grass type is important in regard to how much Weed-b-Gone you are to use.
My calculations, based on 4400 square feet, indicate that you should have used 11 ounces (66 Tsp.) on Bentgrass, Buffalograss, Centipedegrass & St. Augustinegrass (considered sensitive lawns) and 22 ounces (132 Tsp.) on Bahiagrass, Bermudagrass, Fescues, Kentucky Bluegrass, Perennial Ryegrass & Zoyziagrass. (considered hardy lawns).
Because you indicated that you should have used 10 ounces I assume you were using the sensitive lawn figures. In that case you applied three times the recommended dosage.
As I say, I can only hope that your lawn recovers on its own as I can see nothing you can do at this stage other than watering so that your lawn gets about one inch of water a week. Do not fertilize as this will only add to the stress at this time.
Remember in the future to always read and understand the label before chemical applications.

Second response to Rhett:
OOPS! I am sorry that I misread your question. You said weed 'n feed not weed b gone.
The information I supplied to you is for weed b gone. Please disregard all of the measurements.
You could now have two problems. One would be fertilizer burn the other too much weed killer. Both of these problems should still be treated with watering at a rate of about one inch per week so that the chemicals will have a tendency to be diluted. I cannot guaranty that that will solve your problem but it is the only thing I know that might work.
I apologize for misreading your question.

Have a good lawn!
