Questioni have been struggling to mow lawn. i have clumps of grass all over the lawn that is making this task a struggle. What can i do?
AnswerCrabgrass, Johnson grass, and Dallis grass grow in big stuborn clumps like that.
I used to dig them out with an asparagus cutter. You can go into the soil, below the root, and lift the clump out.
If you don't get the root, it will just ,in effect, prune it, and spur it to grow faster and bigger.
When I went organic and started putting sugar on my lawn, those clumps of johnson grass and crabgrass went away with a few mowings.
Some came up the next spring, but not as many. The 3rd or 4th year, they didn't bother even to come up.
Organics is more about what you don't do than what you do.
It takes less work, less money, and less time, and you get better results. Weeds love por soil, and they don't thrive in rich soil.
Weed killers are funny critters, and deadly poison. they just are hard to figure. The ones that kill the weed grasses, also kill the grasses you want to keep. The broadleafed weed killers don't touch those clumpy grasses.
If you would like to try the organic program, write me and I will be more than happy to lay it out for you.
Other than that, get an asparagus cutter, and cut those little suckers out down by their roots.
