QuestionI hope I am asking the right person, and I hope I can figure out how to come back to find my answer. Would there be any way you could reply to my email address? The reason for me finding you today is I just did a soil test using a kit from Lowe's. I live in Eastern NC and have Centipede grass. The pH was aprx 7.0 (neutral). I understand that Centipede likes to be very acidic (about 4.5-5.5). I use Lyme? How much? How do I apply? The Nitrogen was very low, Phosphorous was very low to low, and the Potash was also very low to low. What do I use to get these up if they need to be up? Or are they ok? I also found a few baby grubs during my soil digging. I've heard to treat for grubs in July - Sept. Is this true? Are they not a bother now? I also need to weed and fertilize. In what order do I do the Lyme, weeding (which should be done by the end of March, I think), and fertilizing? I really need help. I am getting very discouraged. Thank you very much Susan. Organic or chemical, it doesn't matter. Money is always good to save. Any inexpensive way to do this? I am also looking for results and will do what it takes. Thanks again!!
AnswerHi Jodie;
I have never grown Centipede grass, so I know nothing about it.
I looked for websites that can give you the information you need.
I have a couple for you to look through.
Check out these sites.
http://www.centipedegrass.com/maintenance/index.html
http://www.lawncareprofessionals.com/centipede.htm
http://www.savvygardener.com/Features/soil_ph.html
http://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheets/HGIC1650.htm
The last two sites are how to change the PH of the soil.
Hope this helps you.
These sites seemed to have the most complete information.
If you need me to search for more information, just write me. I am glad to help.
